Some years ago I bought a new notebook, this because the old one was stolen and the option of a PC wasn't never between my desires. Now, after so many years I know that buying a Dell notebook it was the right decision. My budget never permitted me to consider an Apple computer and the market was full of brands that I never trusted. At the moment, right for me seem to be Sony or Compaq, Dell being a stranger. Dell sells almost all the time directly from their web site and at the time I still bought electronics from Supermarkets.
For 2 months I searched on the internet thousand of reviews and opinions trying to understand what computer is the best for my needs (stable, not to costly and at a level of performance high enough). In the end I found Dell to be the one who can fit my needs and I bought the Inspiron 6400 directly from dell.com .
Buying from dell.com is easy than never. If you call them you can change everything in your configuration, included the keyboard or the language of the OS. In fact, this is what I've done, I asked the Irish keyboard layout and the OS in English (I bought the computer from Italy where Dell sell this things in Italian - format and language).
At the moment of the writing (2010) I still use the notebook bought 3 years ago being happy and satisfied. Never had problems with drivers, hardware or other type of incompatibilities. The only thing that disappointed me is the short life cycle of the 9 cells battery (only one year).
Until now I recommended Dell notebooks to all my friends or clients, 12 of them buying Dell notebook, PC or printers for a total value of (round) 30 000 euro, some of them being now at the second Dell notebook after the first time I recommended the option to buy Dell products.
If tomorrow I will decide to change this notebook I will buy another Dell notebook, I hope this time from the XPS series (most advanced Dell notebooks).
Look what I bought:
The previous notebook I owned was stolen by a room mate who disappeared with all his and my things. Because I am always on the road I bought Kensington Microsaver Twin Lock. Using Kensington Microsaver Twin Lock give me the freedom to let the notebook in the car, on the table in public places or at the hotel without worrying.
Remember, I am a pro in building web pages and web apps (website design, website programming and internet marketing consulting). I don't do graphic design. I take pictures but I am not a photographer. Now I learn public relations and communications.
From the beginning I use Western Digital HDD but one day a friend of mine recommended me to try a Desktop HDD from Lacie . The first I bought was the LaCie Brick Desktop Hard Drive. After, in the last 3 years I bought other 5 Lacie HDD (mobile or desktop) devices. They are stable, with a beautiful design, until now working perfect without hardware errors or data lost. For this reasons, now I trust Lacie and I recommend to all my friends or clients to buy from them.
With my Nokia E63 I use a 4G MicroSD memory card from SandDisk. With my Canon EOS 40D I use 2 x 8G CompactFlash cards from SandDisk . For my Creative MP3 Player (now wasted) I bought a 16G Memory Card from SanDisk. Not for last, for various needs I use USB Flash Drives from SanDisk. My boss, my sister, my brother, my mother, my friends, my clients or my girlfriend, all they use USB Flash Drives from SandDisk.
If you need to buy a memory card, for your mobile phone, for your digital video camera or photo camera, for your computer or other needs, then consider on buying from SanDisk.
Another brand, I trust and use with satisfaction is Logitech. In fact, when I say mouse and keyboard I think to Logitech .
Because I work for more than 12 hours a day with the computer I need comfort and functionality, Logitech being able to give me all I want. The keyboard (bought directly from logitech.com) is illuminated and with Irish (British) layout. The mouse I use is from the Trackball series and it's the perfect fit with all my needs (is perfect for who don't have space on the table). Not for last, another product from Logitech I use are the V10 Notebook Speakers (best for who is on the move like me).
When you stay in front of your computer to lose time doesn't count what keyboard or mouse you use, but when you work don't be cheap. Buy for you the performance, comfort and functionality that Logitech offer.
