For me Canon EOS 40D is perfect

For more than 3 years I used the small Canon PowerShot A640. Being too slow and without image stabilization in 2009 I bought my first DSLR, the 40D from Canon.

It was easy to understand how it work and how powerful is but difficult to adapt. It is a photo camera for who need power or for who use such technologies every day. Things become easier after I found the-digital-picture.com , a website about photography with reviews and lot of other articles about the same subject.

Now I love my Canon EOS 40D. It does everything I need and help me have fun when going out after new pictures. In fact, all the pictures you will find going to visit my profile on Flickr.com or Picasa Web Albums are taken with this photo camera.

If you think at making the big change from a compact camera to a DSLR I recommend you to look after something similar with Canon EOS 550D or Nikon D5000. If you are a newbie like me visit dpreview.com and the-digital-picture.com . This two websites are a good point from where to start.

I use two 8G SanDisk CompactFlash

With my Canon EOS 40D, I use two SanDisk CompactFlash both of them with a capacity of 8 Gigabyte. The only difference between them are the write and read speed, an important factor when using high shooter speed.

By now, I use SandDisk products for more than 6 years, choosing to use them for the stability and the performance of the products. Using SandDisk USB Flash Drives and Memory Cards is a safe road to take when speaking about safety of your data and product reliability.

If you plan on buying a CompactFlash card for your photo camera and money is not a problem, look directly to the SandDisk CompactFlash memory cards.

Accessories I use with my photo camera

Tamrac Camera Bag

The camera bag is a must have for everyone. It will protect your camera, will give you freedom on the road and will help you to have at your hand all the accessories you usually use in a photo shooting session. I use a Tamrac Camera Bag and I am satisfied. Inside is enough space for all the small accessories, outside with nice colors and a beautiful design.

Other accessories good to have are a memory card reader and a tripod. For my needs are enough the Verbatim Universal Memory Card Reader and the Hama Tripod recuperated from the time I used Canon PowerShoot A640.

I recommend you Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2

I highly recommend you to start using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2. Remember, for maximum performance you must setup your photo camera to save pictures in RAW format.

RAW file format is the uncompressed, unprocessed data file captured by the camera's image sensor, before any in-camera processing has been applied (though, in practice, depending on the camera manufacturer, some minimal in-camera processing may have been applied to the RAW data). In this sense, an image saved in the RAW file format is the digital equivalent to the (exposed but as yet unprocessed) film negative. In fact, the camera will ignore your white balance, sharpening, contrast and saturation settings. Instead of applying them to the RAW data, it will save those settings in a separate header associated with the RAW data. (text from photoxels.com)
